in the list below click on the event name (or the image next to it) to bring up important details about each event or activity.
the pages will open in a seperate window.
to return to this calendar just close the window.

unfortunately sometimes we find it necessary to cancel or postpone an activity due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. therefore it is very important to check with us by email to confirm dates & details.
we ask that you keep in mind that 1) although we make every effort to run our events & activities in a professional manner, kigouya in fact is not a business and is not for profit, but instead is our hobby, and that 2) we do the things we do simply because we can & we like doing it.
we offer the opportunities below because we would want someone to do the same for us if we were visiting or living in a place as fun-filled as japan. please do join us when you can.

events & activities & parties & camps...

types of events

where do you wanna go? what do you wanna do?

do you wanna hit the beach, or head to the mountains? wide open views, or majestic vistas. warm calm ocean currents, or crystal clear, gently flowing mountain streams, your choice of cobalt blue or emerald green. paradaisical waterfalls to photograph & swim under. and all over the land, there are onsens onsens & more onsens.

camping, hiking, swimming, relaxing, bbqing.
throughout the year there’s something for everyone. japan is the land of water in all of its forms.
check the list below to find activities that you may be interested in, then refer to the calendar on the right for specific dates & links to more details, contact info & photos.
if you have any questions, send us a message.

camping
it’s possible to camp anytime from may to november. check the dates in the calendar on the right, or choose from the many destinations & activities below. let us know when is best for you & we’ll do our best to match your plan.

waterfalls
we started our nature trekking in japan by searching for waterfalls and they are still very dear to our heart. kigouya is waterfall central, so just ask.
for the best that kansai has to offer check out the waterfall hike at hyakkenzan. for a deep nature experience it has to be shikoku falls in tokushima, which bills itself as the waterfall prefecture, and we agree. and for a quick day trip, or for the unique experience of nite swimming under majestic mountain falls, yoshino is the choice.
for a splendid midnite summer dip that doesn’t require staying overnite, we recommend inunaki.

rivers
beat the infamous heat & humidity of the osaka & kyoto summer & get to the mountains to swim in crystal clear mountain streams. four great places to choose from: for day trips, yoshino is the place. for overniters, kawayu, and for 2 nite stays otomura & naka-cho (tokushima) are the pick.

beaches
well, japan is a vast collection of islands so there are literally beaches & sea everywhere, right. but for us, beaches means late summer camping at 2 pristine places: shikoku & amino. check the dates with the calendar on the right.

home parties
all-you-can-eat-&-drink buffet lunch.
5 times a year on the 1st sunday of even numbered months (except aug). everyone is welcome. check the calendar on the right for specific dates, then send us an email from the party page to make a reservation.

onsens
(hotsprings) during colder months our main onsen is yubara and in milder months either yubara or kawayu.
both are co-ed, outdoor, natural, 24-hr, free hotsprings & both are fairly nearby—just 2.5hrs from osaka by car.
we go about once a month & either camp when possible (may thru nov) or stay at a minshuku (nov thru apr).
both are located deep in the countryside.
yubara is in a steep valley at the base of a dam and within 5min of a very nice double waterfall and convenient camping area.
kawayu means just what it says: river with hot water. if you don’t know about this place, well, we feel sorry for you, really. this is our choice for summer months simply because it combines swimming in a crystal clear mountain stream during the day with onsen warmth in the evening. camping is the only way to go at this place (may~nov).
for specific dates check the calendar on the right. however, it’s possible to make a trip to either onsen practically any weekend of the year. just let us know when is best for you.

snow fun
kansai snow club takes care of winter activities for us with a packed schedule from december to march. kigouya partners up for a number of trips, most especially the big kansai snow club powder love party every year in march.
